Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is conducted twice a year during the month of February and August. Interested and eligible candidates may apply online through the official website of AFCAT when the notification is released. In this article, we have mentioned regarding AFCAT 2023 application form, notification release date, eligibility criteria, exam dates, syllabus, exam pattern, etc.

AFCAT 2023 – Highlights

AFCAT 2023 Eligibility Criteria

To apply for AFCAT 2023, candidates must fulfil the eligibility criteria. So the eligibility details for AFCAT 2023 are given below:

  • Nationality: Candidates must be a citizen of India as per the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955.
  • Qualification for Flying Duty: Candidates must have passed with a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics and Physics at 10+2 level and must have completed three years of an undergraduate course in a relevant field with a minimum of 60% marks.
  • Qualification for Ground Duty (Technical): Candidates with a minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years degree in Engineering/Technology from a recognized University.
  • Qualification for Ground Duty (Non-Technical): Candidates should be completed Graduation or Post Graduation from a recognized university.

Age Limit:

Flying DutyThe minimum age of the candidates should be 20 years.
Ground Duty (Technical)The age limit should be between 20 to 26 years
Ground Duty (Non-Technical)The age limit for undergraduates will be between 20 – 23 years, and for postgraduates, the age limit will be between 20 – 26 years.

AFCAT 2023 Application Form

AFCAT 2023 Application Form will be available in November 2022 for AFCAT-I and AFCAT-II in June 2023. To submit the application form candidates need to follow the steps given below:

Step 1: Firstly, candidates need to visit the official website as soon as the notification is released in November 2022.

Step 2: The notification link for AFCAT 2023 will be available on the home page. Download the notification and check the eligibility criteria details once.

Step 3: Click on the ‘Apply Online option and complete the registration process by entering your basic details. Now, your account will be created.

Step 4: Login and fill up the application form correctly.

Step 5: Upload the required documents and passport photo in the prescribed format, and click on the ‘Proceed‘ option.

Step 6: Pay the application fee through Debit Card, Credit Card or Net Banking. Click on ‘Submit’.

Step 7: Take a printout for further references.

Application Fee

The application fee for all the candidates will be Rs 250. You can pay the application fee through the payment gateway using credit/debit card/net banking.

AFCAT 2023 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for AFCAT will be as follows:

  • Subjects: General Awareness, Numerical Ability, Verbal Ability in English and Military Aptitude Test.
  • EKT (for technical branches): Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics.

AFCAT 2023 Syllabus

AFCAT question paper is divided into 4 parts, these are (i) General Awareness, (ii) Verbal Ability in English, (iii) Numerical Ability, and (iv) Military Aptitude Test. The following topics are included in these subjects.

  1. General Awareness & Reasoning: Basic Science, Geography, History, Arts, Sports, Defence, Culture, Current Affairs, Civics, Environment, Politics, etc.
  2. Verbal Ability in English: Comprehension, Synonyms, Sentence Completion, Testing of Vocabulary, Antonyms, Error Detection etc.
  3. Numerical Ability: Decimal Fraction, Ratio and Proportion, Average, Simple Interest, Profit and Loss, Percentage, Simplification.
  4. Military Aptitude Test: Verbal Skills and Spatial Ability.

AFCAT 2023 Admit Card

The admit card will be available on the official website a week before the exam. You will also get the notification of admit card availability on your registered email id. To download the admit card you need to login with your username and password. It is mandatory to carry it along with your other documents.

AFCAT 2023 Result

The result will be available in March 2023 on the official website of AFCAT. So candidates must visit the official website ( for their results. Candidates can check the result by login. A merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in the exam. Hence, only qualified candidates are eligible for the interview round.

AFCAT SSB Interview

Only qualified candidates from the final merit list will be eligible for SBB interviews. The SSB interview will be completed in three stages.

  • Stage-I: On the first day, Officer Intelligence Rating Test will be conducted along with Picture Perception and Discussion Test.
  • Stage-II: The psychological test will be followed by document verification, group test and interview for the next five days.
  • Flying Branch: Candidates applying for Flying Branch must appear in Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS).

The selected procedure depends on the written exam, interviews and medical test. So, the selected candidates will be allotted to Air Force Training Establishments as per their merit and availability of vacancies.
