CTET Eligibility Criteria
CTET eligibility criteria are prepared by the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE). Therefore, the eligibility for 2021-22 as prescribed by CBSE for Paper-I and Paper-II. Candidates having minimum qualifications for teaching jobs as per the following are eligible in CTET.
- The minimum qualification for Pre-Primary, Primary, Upper Primary; Higher Secondary or Graduation from a recognised Board with a minimum of 50% marks and relevant teacher training program.
- Paper-I exam allows a teacher for classes I to V, while Paper-II is for classes VI to VIII.
- If a candidate intends to be a teacher for both levels (classes I to V and classes VI to VIII) will have to appear in both the papers (Paper-I and Paper-II).
Nationality
The applicant must be an Indian citizen.
Age Limit for CTET:
There is no upper age limit for the candidates for CTET, but the age should be 17 years.
Qualification:
The candidate must fulfil the eligibility criteria for Paper-II before applying. The minimum qualification for CTET is prescribed in the Recruitment Rules for Teachers by the appropriate government, where the school is located.
- Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education.
OR
- Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education, in accordance with the NCTE Regulations, 2002.
OR
- Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
OR
- Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Education.
OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)” “(a) who has acquired the qualification or Bachelor of Education from any NCTE recognized institution shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in classes I to V provided the person so appointed as a teacher shall mandatorily undergo a six month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two years of such appointment as a primary teacher.

CTET Other Parameters
Degree or Diploma in Teacher Education recognised by NCTE. In addition, for a Diploma or Degree in Special Education, programs recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) will be considered.
Candidates with D.Ed (Special Education) will have to undergo six months special program in Elementary Education recognised by NCTE.
If a candidate is allowed to appear in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test, it does not mean that their eligibility has been verified. Final verification of eligibility will be done by the concerned recruiting agency/appointment.

How To Apply for CTET 2023?
Candidates can apply online through the CTET website https://ctet.nic.in. The candidate should supply all the details while filling the online form and upload the scanned images of the latest photograph and signature. After successfully submitting the form and requisite fee, candidates are required to take a printout of the confirmation page.
