GATE Syllabus 2023
Each GATE 2023 paper will be 100 marks in total; General Aptitude (GA) is common for all the papers (15 marks), and the rest of the paper covers the respective syllabus (85 marks). Candidates must be familiar with the paper code required during application and examination.

Two New Papers in GATE 2022:
This year two more papers have been added to the GATE syllabus 2022; these two papers are Geomatic Engineering and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. So all the question papers along with the two new papers will be available on the official website of GATE.

Discrete Mathematics: Propositional & First-Order Logic, sets, relations, functions, partial orders and Lattice monoids, group. Illustrations: connectivity, matching, colour. Combinatorics: counting,
Recurrence relation, generating function.
Linear Algebra: Matrix, Determinant, System of Linear Equations, Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors, Alu decomposition.
Calculus: Limits, Continuity and Variation. Maxima and Minima. Mean Value Theorem.
Probability and Statistics: Random Variables. Uniform, Normal, Exponential, Poisson and Binomial Delivery. Mean, median, mode and standard deviation. Conditional Probability and Bayes
Boolean algebra. Combination and sequential circuits. Reduction. Number representation and computer arithmetic (fixed and floating-point).
Computer Organisation and Architecture:
Machine instructions and addressing modes. ALU, data-path and control unit. Instruction pipelining, pipeline hazards. Memory hierarchy: cache, main memory and secondary storage; I/O interface(interrupt and DMA mode).
Programming and Data Structures:
C programming, arrays, recursion, stacks, queues, linked list, binary search trees, graphs, binary heap.
Searching, sorting, hashing, Asymptotic worst-case time and space complexity. Algorithm design techniques: greedy, dynamic programming and divide-and-conquer. Graph traversals, minimum spanning trees, shortest paths etc.

Theory of computation:
Finite automata and regular expressions. Context-free grammars and push-down automata. Regular
and context-free languages, pumping lemma. Turing machines and undecidability etc.
Lexical analysis, parsing, syntax-directed translation, Runtime environments, Intermediate code
generation, Local optimization, Data flow analyses: constant propagation, liveness analysis,
common subexpression elimination etc.
System calls, processes, threads, inter-process communication, concurrency and synchronization.
Deadlock, CPU and I/O scheduling, Memory management and virtual memory, File systems etc.
ER-model, Relational model: relational algebra, tuple calculus, SQL. Integrity constraints, normal
forms, File organization, indexing (e.g., B and B+ trees). Transactions and concurrency control.
Concept of layering: OSI and TCP/IP Protocol Stacks; Basics of the packet, circuit and virtual circuit switching; Data link layer: framing, error detection, Medium Access Control, Ethernet bridging etc.
Routing protocols: shortest path, flooding, distance vector and link-state routing; Fragmentation and
IP addressing, IPv4, CIDR notation, Basics of IP support protocols, Network

Any B.Tech pass student can apply for GATE to study M.Tech.
The percentage doesn’t matter in the GATE exam.
No, there is no age limit for the GATE exam.
It is not necessary to upload a category certificate for GATE while filling out the application. A category (SC/ST/OBC) certificate is required for concession for the application fee; it does not require upload, but, it will be required while taking admission.
