Today in this blog, we will learn how to open an account in SBI through Yono app in few steps. Recently, SBI has allowed the customers to open a savings account through Yono SBI again.
In such a situation, the customers can open their account online without visiting the branch. There are two types of savings accounts allowed. One is a digital savings account, and the other an Insta savings account.
For a digital savings account, the customer has to visit the branch once; the same does not need to visit the branch for the Insta Savings account. This is a paperless zero balance savings account that can be opened in just a few steps online through SBI’s Yono app.
Before opening an online account with SBI, customers have to install the Yono app on their smartphone. The customer must be at least 18 years of age.
Further, they require a PAN number, Aadhaar number and phone number, which will have to be verified with the Aadhaar card. Only then they can open an online savings account with SBI online.

Documents required to open accounts
These are the main documents for opening an account in SBI through the Yono app. Therefore, please keep it on hand while opening the account.
- Aadhar Number
- PAN Number
- Phone number, which must be verified with Aadhaar Card.
Open an Account in SBI through Yono
First of all, install the Yono application from the google play store on your smartphone. The complete information for opening an account with SBI is given step-by-step.
However, these options may be changed from time to time by SBI guidelines depending on the situation.
STEP 1: Open YONO app, here appear three options. Tap on ‘New in SBI’.
STEP 2: On the next screen, two options available to open an account in SBI online. One is ‘Digital Savings Account‘ and the second is ‘Insta Savings Account‘. So, go with Insta Savings Account. For an Insta savings account, customers do not need to visit the branch. Tap on ‘Apply now.

STEP 3: On the next screen, two options will appear, APPLY NEW AND RESUME. Select ‘Apply new‘. Next, tick on the checkbox.
STEP 4: Enter the registered phone number on the next screen and submit. OTP will be received on the phone, and enter OTP and submit.
STEP 5: On the next screen, create the application password and re-enter the application password. Select a security question and answer. Tick the FATCA / CRS declaration box, and select the checkbox for Terms and Conditions.
STEP 6: On the next screen, select the second one of the Aadhaar details and enter the Aadhaar number and submit. Enter OTP, which will be received by SMS on mobile and tap on next.
STEP 7: On the next screen, the applicants’ details will be shown and tap on the next one. Applicant details have to be entered here and tap on next.
STEP 8: On the next screen, select state, sub-district and tap on next. Enter the PAN number here and select next. The Aadhaar photo of the applicant will appear here and tap on next.
STEP 9: Here, select the applicant’s qualification details and select the next marital status.
STEP 10: On the next screen, enter the first name, middle name and last name of the applicant’s father and mother and select the next option. Select the father’s annual income here. Next, select the occupation details. Then tap on the candidate’s religious details, like Hindu, Christian, Muslim, Sikh, Other, etc.
STEP 11: Enter the Nominee details on the next screen. If the nominee is minor, then enter the guardian name of the nominee. Enter the address details of the nominee here. Tap on next.
STEP 12: Select home branch on the next screen and then next. Accept the terms & conditions and tap on next. Enter the OTP, which will receive on the registered mobile and tap on next. Enter the name displayed on the debit card, and tap on Next. Is that all! The account has been opened online at SBI through the Yono app.

Here the candidate’s account number, IFSC code, CIF number, and branch code will appear. In this way, anyone can open an account in SBI online through the Yono app.
Full-Service Savings Account
Customers can avail the option of converting their Insta savings account to a full-service KYC account by visiting the nearest branch within one year after opening the Insta Savings Account.
ABOUT USER ID
The temporary user ID will be received on the mobile during account opening. Then create internet banking through that temporary user ID on the official site of SBI by selecting the New user registration option.
INFORMATION OF DEBIT CARD:
Information on debit card delivery: After opening the account in SBI online through the Yono app, the RuPay debit card will reach the account holders’ address within 15 days.
ATM CARD DELIVERY INFORMATION: When the account opening is complete, it provides the account number, CIF code and branch code, and debit card delivery information on the Yono app.
